To a certain extent, gear is irrelevant. It is possible to take fine photos with anything from a Kodak Brownie a digital SLR, a Hasselblad to a plastic toy Holga.

That said, it does matter, and matters a great deal, inasmuch as the gear that you use must be something with which you are comfortable. Taking pictures, you spend a lot of time with your cameras and lenses, so you had better like them, or it is going to be a long haul.

With that in mind, these are the rudiments of my set-up:

  • Pentax K10D
  • Pentax *ist DS
  • Pentax LX
  • Pentax 645

  • Sigma 24mm f2.8
  • Pentax FA 35mm f 2.0
  • Pentax A 50mm f1.4
  • SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4
  • S-M-C Takumar 85mm f1.8
  • Takumar-K 135mm f2.5
  • Pentax M 200mm f4.0

  • Pentax A 645 55mm f2.8
  • Pentax A 645 75mm f2.8
  • Pentax A 645 150mm f3.5
